Jerry_Lewis_-_1960sFans and industry colleagues are mourning the loss of Jerry Lewis, who passed yesterday at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 91. The comedian/actor was hospitalized in June for a urinary tract infection, but he had been several years out of his 2006 heart attack. He launched his career at age 16, entering comedy and in 1946, he teamed up with Dena Martin and audiences ate it up. The two were a national phenomenon together until 1956, when the two parted ways. He then went on to enjoy success at the box office, having written, directed and starred in “The Errand Boy” (1961) and “The Nutty Professor” (1963). But a fall off a piano causing him to chip his spine, started a painkiller addiction that he kicked. In 1983, he made a comeback, starring in Martin Scoresese’s “The King of Comedy” – and he married dancer Sandra Pitnick (after first wife Patti Palmer – and an affair with Marilyn Monroe). But his most famous achievement – besides his seven children – was founding the annual Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy telethon, which has raised more than $2.45 billion since the 1960s, which he hosted until 2011. Farewell to a young heart and comedic genius.

A father,” he tweeted. “He meant the world to me & I will forever cherish the time I got to spend with him & his family. At a dark time in my life, he brought me joy.” And Jim Carrey declared, “Jerry Lewis was an undeniable genius an unfathomable blessing, comedy’s absolute! I am because he was!”

“Bridesmaids” alum Rose Byrne is expecting her second child with partner Bobby Cannavale. The “X-Men: Apocalypse” star confirmed the rumors in an interview with Jones magazine in Australia. “I’m a little tired but feeling good,” she told the mag. “Everyone was very sweet on set today [for the photoshoot], and you always get a little bit more attention when you’re pregnant, which is fabulous.” She and Cannavale share 19-month old son Rocco
