Winterize Your Skin Regimen!

If you haven’t noticed darlings, it’s cold outside.

The winter winds have left Mister Makeup’s skin parched and wind burnt, so this month it’s all about MOISTURE, so pour yourself a Hot Tottie and take a gander at my tips to keep your beauty assets from freezing and falling off.

For smooth fabulous skin, get inspired by Barbara Lhotan’s vision of winter beauty (photo on the homepage by www.robertoligresti.com) a student of my makeup class – www.davidmaderich.com/news/html. The secret my winter weary readers is simple: don’t leave the house without every extremities coated with moisturizer.

Sensai Eye EssenceIn the morning, before you put your best face forward, slather on a rich serum packed with antioxidants such as Patricia Wexler M.D. MMPi 20 Intense 3-IN-1 Serum available at www.bathandbodyworks.com.   Next, apply a nourishing cream – I love all natural Weleda’s Skin Food to lock in moisture.  To combat crow’s feet, add a few drops of a soothing eye cream/serum – try Sensai’s Hydrachange Eye Essence at www.neimanmarcus.com) to your orbital area.  Finally, don’t forget your neck – Goblet Goop by Miss Oops Firming Neck and Chest Cream (www.missoops.com) is simply the most elegant cream to lift and moisturize the troublesome neck area – no one likes a turkey neck!  If you need to add a touch of color to your winter weary complexion, I adore Benefit Cosmetics He’s A Rebel Tinted Moisturizer (www.sephora.com).

Repechage Lip ShieldLips take mucho abuse from cold winds.  I recommend brushing your lips along with your teeth every morning to remove dry flakey skin.  Next, smooth a drop of rich moisturizer (I love C.O. Bigelow Derma Remedy Body Lotion at www.bigelowchemists.com ) on your lips before coating them with a hydrating balm or gloss – try Repechage’s Sunscreen Lip Shield (www.repechage.com). And please, try to skip the fashionista trend of drying matte lipsticks – a moist gloss will work better, such as NYC New York Color’s Lip Sliders Tinted Lip Balm (www.newyorkcolor.com) – these little gems come in a cute sliding tin and fit perfectly in your back pocket.

Before bedtime, I suggest smothering your lips in an emollient balm – try Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Lip Treatment (www.amorepacific.com) – put this little tube on your bed stand, so you will never forget to apply it.

Jo Malone Body CreamAnd don’t forget to slather your body in a thick cream when you step out of the shower – I adore La Mer Body Cream (www.neimanmarcus.com) for its soothing marine extracts that keep your skin baby soft – apply extra cream to dry elbows and knees and Jo Malone’s Vitamin E Body Cream is divine! Their White Jasmine & Mint Body Crème is also enchanting and enriching.

In cold weather, hands take a beating. To put your paws on the road to softness, wash your hands with a cleanser packed with moisturizers – try Avon’s Skin So Soft Hand Wash at www.avon.com. To lock in moisture, keep a bottle of hand lotion (try Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer at www.drugstore.com) next to the sink as well as mini bottles in your purse and desk so your hands will never go thirsty.

Bath&Body Works Amethyst CreamA fantastic tip a dermatologist passed on to me was to coat your mitts in cream (I love Bath & Body Works Black Amethyst Triple Moisture Body Cream at www.bathandbodyworks.com.) before putting on your winter gloves – a beauty treatment while you walk to the train! Before retiring, apply the same rich cream to your hands and slip them into a pair of cotton gloves for all night deep moisturizing.  Try the same trick with your feet with a pair of old socks – try purminerals Happy Feet Restorative Foot Treatment (www.purminerals.com).  And be sure to use a pumice stone in the shower to keep your tootsies smooth!

Don’t forget your nails – cuticles can dry out quick in cold weather.   Keep Sally Hansen’s super convenient and portable Quick Care Massaging Cuticle Treatment (www.drugstore.com) pen in your purse – massage a dab on twice a day and your nails will thank you.

That’s it for this month, darlings! Stay warm and stay moisturized.
