Winter Skincare

Brrrrr…..it’s cold outside.

It’s starting to become a snowy winter on the island of Manhattan.  Of course, that doesn’t keep the stilettos off the street, darlings.

This month Mister Makeup is showing his dear readers how to care for winter weary skin.  In my search for supple skin, I’ve discovered a slew of new skincare lines that I can’t wait to share with you.

In cold weather, even the healthiest skin can dry out and crack. I don’t recommend bar soaps or drying cleansers. One new product I love is Envie De Neur Rice Eclat Cleansing Oil. With models sprinting from show to show during fashion week, I can’t wait to use this product. Pump out a few squirts and massage over the face to dissolve makeup and impurities. Fabulous – and I swear it leaves your skin silky smooth.

For oilier skin, a great cleansing option is Sulwhasoo’s Liquid Cleansing Foam – this non-stripping cleanser is perfect for oilier skin that will leave skin soft and hydrated and clean.

Carol’s Daughter Bring in the Moisture Face LotionFor a good basic no fuss facial moisturizer, I am in love with Carol’s Daughter Bring in the Moisture Face Lotion –the entire skincare line is pretty spiffy, too..  With no parabens, petroleum or mineral oils, this lotion is loaded with extracts of Acai Berry and Willow Bark. I have to admit I have no idea what these things do, but this lotion miraculously makes my models glow. Try mixing a dab with a gel bronzer to enliven winter skin.

Is your foundation-laden skin dry and cracked by mid-day?  One trick I use to refresh cakey skin is Ola Hawaii Lotion Mist – simply spray the aloe vera laden mist onto your skin to freshen things up. Plus, it smells like pineapple – heaven!

Paula’s Choice RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate SerumI love a good serum – but so many of them are so damn expensive.  A model turned me onto Paula’s Choice RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum – a super reasonable serum loaded with good stuff and doubles as a primer, too. Upon further research, I discovered that Paula is Paula Begoun author of my favorite book Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me, which is full of cosmetic reviews. If anyone should know the best stuff, it’s Paula – Check out her entire line of skincare.

Cold weather can make your skin red and irritated – especially if you are prone to rosacea.  To the rescue is In & Out Different Beauty– a fabulous line of products to combat sensitive and red skin.  State-of-the-art plant based products and oral supplements bring your skin back to normal in six weeks. Amazing. I’ve been using the Sensitive & Reddish Skin Mask with great results.

Lip Service

Amorepacific Moisture Bound Lip TreatmentWho isn’t plagued by dry and cracked lips?  To the rescue is Amorepacific Moisture Bound Lip Treatment. Fans include Minnie Driver and Sienna Miller – this lip balm has circulation stimulating mandarin extract to give your lips a rosy glow. I love to mix this lip treatment with lipstick – try Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist Intense in Matte Antique Pink - for a natural moist lip – I even add a drop to cheeks for a glowing finish.

Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist Intense in Matte Antique PinkAfter a hard day at the office, who doesn’t  need a beauty miracle? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have found the perfect after-five pick-me-up for dull and saggy skin. Try myfaceworks Collagen Boosting Facial Mask. This lovely mask is loaded with algae extracts that are soaked in a silk fabric that you drape on your skin for maximum absorption. Relax for 20 minutes and say hello to brighter, tighter and smoother skin.  Sold as a set of six individual masks, they are perfect for the gal or gay on the go.

Body Bliss

La Natura Seawater Therapy Body Contour WashIf your body skin is dry, don’t forget to start moisturizing in the shower or tub. I love La Natura Seawater Therapy Body Contour Wash followed by Seawater Therapy Body Contour Lotion. I swear this combo will keep you baby soft.

For super soft skin, try this trick I learned from a famous actress – before bedtime, smother your body in a rich lotion – try 100% essential oil and certified organic Leila Lou Body Lotion– and slip into a cotton footed pajamas.

That’s it darlings! Follow my winter skin advice and you will be glowing from head to toe.
