Hot Child In The City – Beat the Summer Heat

It’s hot in the city.  I mean, it’s really hot.

With the thermometer boiling over at 100 degrees, it’s hard to feel pretty, but don’t’ fret; with a few simple tips from Mister Makeup you can beat the heat.

Frizz-Free Tresses

First up on any city girl’s humidity heat hate list is frizzy hair.  Yes, nothing is worse than spending two hours on a blowout only to walk outside and watch your hair turn into a pubic hair perm.

To combat the frizziest properly, you have to start in the shower.  Try John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Shampoo and Conditioner – these rich hydrating potions will help tame those tresses from the get go.  If you still need extra de-frizzing, add a few Philip B Anti-Frizz Formula 57 Smoothing Shine Drops to wet hair before blow-drying to lock down the cuticle and eliminate fuzz.

MOMO Moisturizing Curl Enhancing SerumTake the Curls

If you have some serious curly hair, try going natural in the summer heat.  I adore Davines MOMO Collection of super moisturizing hair products – try MOMO Moisturizing Curl Enhancing Serum – this silky serum is loaded with protein and fig milk to protect your hair and make your curls spring to life.  How to use: run a dime size drop on wet or dry hair to lock in moisture and shine.

Shine-Free Skin

Sally Hansen PowderIn the summer heat, it’s best to ditch the liquid foundation and reach for an oil-free and oil absorbing primer – try Bare Escentuals  Prime Time Foundation Primer Oil Control – and a dusting of powder to even out the skin – I adore Sally Hanson Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Luminous Matte Pressed Powder.   If you need extra coverage, try a cream to powder foundation only on areas that need it – Urban Decay Surreal Cream to Powder Foundation is amazing in hot weather.

It’s also a smart idea to carry blot papers – I use Sephora Collection Matte Blotting Film in your purse for instant touch-ups and to de-grease.  Please avoid frequent powder touchups in hot weather or you will end up with a cake face – not pretty.

Smudge-Free Eyes and a Pout with a Pop

MM_Thymes_balmTo add a touch of drama on steamy days, try combining a smudge of black waterproof eyeliner with gorgeous hot pink lips.  To keep eyeliner smudge free, choose a long wearing formula like Sally Hanson Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Forever Stay Eye Pencil in Deep Black – blend it a bit with a Q-tip and you are good to go.

For those bright lips, I love the new 16-hour lip stains by NYC New York Color. Try Berry Long Time – a yummy bright pink.  I swear, this stuff will not come off even after a long day at the office and an evening of Cosmo swilling.  If your lips feel dry, just add a dab of balm, such as Thymes Essentials Lip Balm SPF 15.

MM_Urban_DecayFor after five Cosmo sipping, add a dash of purple to your eyelids – color is big news this fall, so get the jump on the fashionistas – try Manic Panic Deadly Nightshade Purple Eye Shadow Punk Rockabilly Use a small brush and wrap your entire eyelid with shadow for a sexy look.  Add a whisk of indestructible black mascara (try Urban Decay’s Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara) and you are ready to sashay past any red rope.

And finally, for those late summer getaways, I have found the perfect all-in-one makeup bag that will take you from dawn to dusk in sexy style.

Pack Up Your Summer Makeup Essentials

MM_MUD_kitToss MUD Make-Up Designory Summer Escape Kit into your weekend or beach tote and you will everything you need to look and feel glam.  Tucked inside a cute black nylon zippered bag is a four-eye shadow palette, a Glow Cheek Color and a Henna Lip Gloss. Perfection.

That’s it for this month my darlings.  Follow my tips and your beauty will bloom all summer long.
