Celebrity Scoops…updated 6.21.12
It was a long road to co-anchor for Ann Curry, who started at the news desk in 1997 and was promoted in 2011, but it might be a short NBC journey from here on out. Rumor has it the peacock network is looking for her replacement after just one year co-hosting the “Today” show with Matt Lauer. Ratings have been slumping and the New York Times is reporting that execs are trying to find another job for her.
Another Palin is getting a close-up…first it was Sarah who had a reality show, then Bristol, and now it’s Todd Palin – Sarah’s hubby – who will be one of the contestants on NBC’s upcoming competition “Stars Earn Stripes.” The new show will pair celebs with military or law enforcement officials and send them on missions inspired by real-life military exercise. Celebs, such as actor Dean Cain and former NFL star Terry Crews and Nick Lachey will vie for the championship title to benefit military-related charities. At least on this show he’s mixed up with other celebs, so it might be tolerable (key word: “might”!)!
Nick and Vanessa Lachey announced they are expecting a baby boy. “We can’t wait to meet him soon!” they said. Back in March, Nick mentioned he was “excited either way,” but also confessed he “always wanted a boy first.” So cool he got his wish- he seems like a super guy and great hubby/dad material!
She’s hitting the gym hard! After giving birth to her baby girl, Jessica Simpson has been dedicating herself to losing her baby weight. “She is as focused and determined as ever,” her trainer, Harley Pasternak, tells In Touch. Jess’ goal is to trim down from her 210 pounds during her pregnancy to 130 – and to marry her fiancé Eric Johnson by the end of the year. You can do it, Jess! ‘Course getting paid $4 million from Weight Watchers is a good incentive too!
WWE hottie John Cena has set a new record. He is on a streak as the most popular celebrity granter in Make-A-Wish Foundation history after marking his 300th wish for 7-year-old Jonny Littman, who has a spinal condition. The Pennsylvania boy was being interviewed on “Good Morning America,” when Sam Champion asked about his shirt. He said the image was John Cena, prompting Champion to ask if anyone knew the WWE Superstar. To Johnny’s surprise, Cena strutted out, greeted him, and presented him with tickets for him and his family to the 1,000th episode of the WWE show. The stud muffin was even humble about the gesture, saying, “I’m just flattered completely that I could be the wish.” He’s so hot in real life – he’d be my wish too!!! Go John – here’s to # 1,000!!!
Have a remarkable Thursday!
