Celebrity Scoops…updated 7.3.12

Anderson Cooper

“The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be more happy, comfortable with myself and proud.” That was Anderson Cooper’s Tweet yesterday shortly after he announced he was gay. Many celebs rallied around him with Neil Patrick Harris Tweeting, “Good for you, Anderson Cooper. You’re awesome.” “I’m proud of you, Anderson Cooper,” Ellen DeGeneres chimed in, with Kathy Griffin also noting she’s proud of him.” Joan Rivers also weighed in, “So that’s why he never wanted to date me! I would have loved having Gloria Vanderbilt as my mother-in-law.”

Katie Holmes has ditched her wedding ring. The 33-year-old actress shot a segment for “Project Runway: All Stars” yesterday and was seen sans her bling he gave her more than five years ago. TMZ, who first reported the breakup was caused by Tom’s desire to place Suri into a hardcore Scientology group, says she fired her security team because they were close to her soon-to-be ex Tom Cruise and has a new detail of 5-6 bodyguards.

Former assistant to Charlie Sheen, Rick Calamaro, was found dead in his L.A. apartment yesterday. The club promoter was reportedly behind Sheen’s drug binging last year. Authorities tell TMZ they found “numerous pain medications and an open bottle of alcohol,” and that it’s possible the man was dead for several days.

Anna Paquin

HBO announced yesterday it’s bringing “The Newsroom” and “True Blood” back for another season. That will place the vampire drama, starring Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, in its sixth season and Aaron Sorkin’s for a second season. Although “Newsroom” is receiving mixed reviews and has only had two episodes air to date, it did garner 2.1 million viewers for its premiere. Not too shabby!

Country star Brad Paisley will be saluting the military tomorrow alongside the President and First Lady on the Fourth of July. He’ll be participating in the fourth annual “Salute the Military” USO concert with about 1,200 troops and members of their families in attendance.

Happy Fourth of July! Enjoy the day off, fireworks and celebration of this great nation!
