Emmanuelle Chriqui
“Entourage” star Emmanuelle Chriqui was one of many celebrities participating in WET’s (Women’s Expressive Theatre) annual benefit, “Love” in NYC. Each short play in the compilation of eight was written by a woman. “I so support what they do,” Chriqui told CelebrityEverything.com. “They are really creating opportunity for women actresses, filmmakers, directors, producers – just the whole gamut. It’s really important.” She also chatted up “Entourage,” Jessica Simpson’s weight gain, dieting and the Oscars.
Q: Do your goals include directing?
E: Eventually. Right now I’m focusing on my acting, but eventually.
Q: Tell me about your upcoming film, “Women in Trouble.”
I play Bambi, a call girl. A very smart, sassy call girl. It’s crazy but very fun. It’s sexy and the director writes for women. It’s beautiful. It’s going to the Austin Film Festival and then I’m starting “Entourage” in March.
Q: Let’s talk Sloan, your character on “Entourage,” where do you see her going this season?
E: I haven’t read anything yet, but I hear it’s good. What I like about her evolution is that she’s a strong woman and I love that. It’s a good example to get that message out there, but there’s a lot more to discover about her.
Q: Do you see a lot of yourself in her?
E: Somewhat, yeah. She’s independent and she has her beliefs and her motives, which I definitely do, and she loves fashion (laughs). I love it, and she’s a good person.
Q: How do you feel about the media coming down on Jessica Simpson for gaining a few pounds. Is it ridiculous?
E: I mean it’s beyond ridiculous! If that’s fat, our society has major issues! Major issues! I’m sorry, a double 0 or a size 2, really? A size 2 is fat – really? That’s absurd!! She’s stunning – size 2 or a double zero!
Q: Have you ever done any crash dieting?
E: If anything, I do things to cleanse or rid toxins. It’s never a weight thing, just more of a turn the page to start fresh. I did the Master Cleanse cayenne pepper diet thing for five days and I loved it. I felt like a brand new person. But I did it when I had five days to just chill. I was getting massages and going to the spa.
Q: Do you think the focus on weight is getting better or worse in Hollywood?
E: I don’t think it’s Hollywood as much as it is the media. You see very successful women – whether it’s Eva Mendes, Kate Winslet, Scarlett Johansson – these are beautiful, voluptuous women and look at their careers! It’s what we’re fed – this image of whoever going on whatever crash diet and these absurd pages of who is a size 0. Who cares?
Q: Who would you like to see win an Oscar this year and why?
E: I’m all about Kate Winslet. She constantly blows my mind.
Q: Have you seen “He’s Just Not That Into You,” if so, do you believe the theme of the film?
E: I think you have to be in the flow. You know in two seconds if a guy is into you or not.
